Page 5 of 5 Before we knew it, they had started exterminating people, dropping litter, building command centers with little or no regard for local planning regulations and writing for the Waiheke Week.
We are a tolerant lot here on Waiheke, but this was getting out of hand. When one of them announced that it was running for election to the Community Board on a ‘Exterminate Everyone Except John Banks’ platform, we realised something had to be done. We had to focus all that Dalek energy into something harmless. Something time consuming and complicated that ultimately nobody would even turn up to see.
Live Theatre! Of course! Get them interested in that and they would cease to be a problem.
So we advertised for auditions. They all turned up. Seems opportunities for participation in community theatre on Skaro are severely limited and these Daleks were just dying to get cast in anything. Before we knew it, they were filling in grant applications, learning lines, building sets, and exterminating each other when cues got missed or props went missing.
The original company is severely depleted now. But the few that are left are proving splendidly enthusiastic. It is our pleasure to bring you highlights from their theatrical endeavours, starting with a music video starring the delightful Nicholas, Roy and Big Gay Sec.
